  3. Chart 1 Vocabulary • Choose approximately 5 vocabulary words • Write words on the chart in the order that they appear in the book. Be sure to be selective with words. • As you come across one of the words in the reading students can give you a thumbs up. • After reading the text go back and reread the word and the context it was used in. Ask students to define the word based on context clues or word structure. • If students are struggling go back to the text and help students identify the context clues that help in determining meaning. Scaffold students in determining meaning.

We learn about things through television, movies, magazines, and newspapers. 2. "I saw a program on television that talked about things described in this article."
