  1. June 14, 2010Upon Awakening, I Hurl the Covers to the Floor! • Mock-heroic works are comical because they describe something mundane in grand, inflated language. In The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope, the poet describes the theft of a locket using the style of an epic poem (usually reserved for subjects like the fall of man or the clash of heroes). • Write a mock-heroic account of your usual morning routine by describing it in melodramatic, grandiose language.

  2. Today we will: • Take turns using classroom computers to finish Glogs. • View and evaluate a few Blabbers. • Does the speech cover the character’s motivation as well as describe his/her effect on the plot? • Compare three versions of Marc Antony’s famous “Friends, Romans, Countrymen” monologue.

  3. Make a 3-column chart. Bill Cosby Original Modern

  4. Write your response in paragraph form! • Which version of Antony’s speech did you like the most? • Give at least three reasons why.
