Committee Goal To develop a report addressing how SRI's membership upholds its mission "To provide every player the opportunity to maximize his/her development as a soccer player". Focus on the players, not organizations.
Problem Statement The most advanced players in Rhode Island are not given the best opportunities to maximize their abilities and succeed as soccer players.
Current State There is a conflict between Free Market vs. Control in determining the programming designed for the State’s most advanced players.
Future State Objectives 1) Increase by 25% the # of wins from RI teams participating in USYS Region 1 Tournament in 2015, 50% in 2016, 100% in 2017. 2) Increase by 100% the # of RI players chosen for the Region 1 ODP pool in 2015, 200% in 2016, 300% in 2017. 3) Increase by 25% the # of RI players participating in Premier soccer for U16-U18 age brackets in 2015. 4) Increase by 25% the perception (positive rating) of premier soccer by RI soccer players, parents, and coaches in 2015, 50% in '16.
Assumption SRI members may not be able to meet the needs of the most advanced players e.g. NE Revs Academy team, due to the reality of the State’s limited player pool size.
Recommendation Create a balance between free market and control by opening SRI to unlimited # of premier teams while informing the consumer through objective reporting
SRI to publish and maintain an objective report detailing key performance indicators and important club details to allow parents and players to make informed decisions. Recommendation
