Historical Time Line • 1886 – On May 8, John Pemberton stirs up a new beverage. • Sold for 5 cents a glass at Jacobs’ Pharmacy • Frank Robinson names the syrup, Coca-Cola. • 1888 – Pemberton sells Coca-Cola to Asa Griggs Candler • Pemberton dies before experiencing Coca-Cola’s success • 1891 – Candler achieves sole ownership, at a total cost of $2300 • 1892 – The Coca-Cola Company is formed. • 1893 – The Coca-Cola name is trademarked. • 1894 – First syrup manufacturing plant outside of Atlanta is opened in Dallas, TX. • 1895 – Coca-Cola is available in every state. • 1899 – Bottling rights are sold to two Tennessee men, and they join another to develop the Coca-Cola bottling system. • 1916 – The unique contour bottle design is introduced.

Historical Time Line (cont.) • 1919 – Candler sells Coca-Cola to Ernest Woodruff for $25 million • 1922 – Pioneers the innovative six-bottle carton • 1928 – First time bottle sales exceeded fountain sales. • 1945 – “Coke” is registered as a trademark • 1971 – “I want to buy the world a Coke” marketing campaign. • 1977 – Coke’s contour bottle shape was trademarked. • 1982 – Diet Coke is introduced • 1985 - New formula is introduced, citizens reject it. • 1993 – “Always Coca-Cola” advertising campaign; first introduction of the Coca-Cola Polar Bear • 2007 – New World of Coca-Cola opens in Atlanta • 2009 – Coca-Cola Freestyle is unveiled. • 2011 – Celebrated 125th anniversary
