  3. Field Testing • Embedded in each test are several “Field Test” items • Field Test items are not graded • You will not know which items are graded and which are field test items. • Therefore, you must do well on ALL items!

  5. Compositions • One Expository Essay • One Literary Essay • Plus Field Test: • One Literary OR Expository Essay • Total of THREE Essays

  6. Multiple Choice • Three Revising Sections • Two Editing Sections • Plus Field Test: • One Revising OR Editing Section • Total of SIX Revising & Editing Sections

  8. Reading Selections • 2 or 3 Reading Selections • Depending on length of selections • Selections will be independent of one another • Multiple Choice questions for all • One Short Answer Response • Can come from any of the Reading Selections

  9. Reading Selections • Paired Reading Selections • Two reading selections that are thematically linked together • Multiple Choice Questions for both • One “Connecting Selections” Short Answer Response • Will require evidence from both texts

  12. Reading Load • Base Test: Approx. 3,100 Words • Field Test: Approx. 1,200 Words • Selection lengths may vary, but reading load will remain constant.
