On December 3, 2009, the US Geological Survey (USGS) marked the 125th anniversary of its national topographic mapping program (1884–2009) at the USGS National Center in Reston, VA. The event highlighted advancements in National Map Digital Services, including new visualization tools, download functions, and the latest map viewer. FGDC members learned about one-stop access to national map data and features like the GOS search service, service status reports, and new customizable search widgets for GIS integration. Exciting challenges and collaborative projects were also discussed, aiming for improved mapping solutions.
