  2. Get organized Use dividers in the 3 ring binder and label as: • Notes/Homework • Quizzes • Independent Learner • 3 Ring Binder • Accordion Folder • 2 pocket folder

  3. Goal Setting • Independent Learners set academic goals for each class • Goals set are realistic and attainable with effort and persistence • Goals are reviewed and adjusted as needed

  4. Homework • Independent Learners ALWAYS have homework! • Homework is YOUR practice of skills taught in class. In order to meet your goal you must work diligently on your homework. • Review notes from class and then begin homework. If your notes do not help go to other resources to guide your work.

  5. Homework • You MUST show all work for credit and complete ALL problems. • Homework will be given daily. If there is no math assignment given you MUST write the topic discussed and reviewed that day in class in your agenda. • When no assignment is given, your homework is to review your notes, quizzes, and practice problems.

  6. Homework/Notes • All notes should have a date and title at the top of the page • At the top of all homework assignments should be date, page #’s, etc., as written by the teacher • Homework should be placed in your notebook immediately following the notes taken during class that day.

  7. Stay organized • Use your agenda daily • Check your notebook daily for any loose papers. Place papers in appropriate section • Clean out your notebook after every test. Place all notes, homework, and quizzes in a folder for mid-term and final exam review.

  8. Resources(Use in the order listed.) • Notes taken in class • Textbook • Check websites recommended by the Math Department found on the Math Department website www.langstonmath.weebly.com • Internet (Google topic) • Phone a friend • Parents ( go to LAST)

  9. Grading • 50% Tests • 40% Quizzes • 10% Homework (Homework average should be a 100% from doing all homework each day and showing work.)
