Form and Style • It conforms to the formulistic structure of most posters, however it has the absence of credits and features, making it a teaser poster. • Generally, it has a grayscale colour scheme. The title however is coloured red which connotes the idea of danger and blood. • The image is of a female character with her mouth open as if she is screaming or in pain. This gives the audience an idea of genre, due to the distraught facial expression. • This poster evokes quite negative emotion due to the troubled facial expression.

  3. Technical Aspects • The main image is an extreme close up. Close up shots are usually used to evoke and portray emotion or intensity. In this case, the use of a close up shot is ideal as it gives the audience a real idea of the genre. • The lighting used for this poster is chiaroscuro. This may be to connote darkness and create a sense of tension, once again idea for the genre. • The angle is at eye level and the image is centre framed.

Institutional Aspects • The films unique selling point is that it is a psychological slasher where horrifying events take place on what is meant to be the best night of people’s lives. • This poster is likely to be seen • There are no names of members of the cast, directors, or release dates, making it a teaser poster.

Genre • The genre of this movie and poster is horror (slasher/stalker). • This poster represents it’s genre well due to the facial expression on the girl’s face. • The contrast between the title of the film and the main image may play on the minds of the audience and suggests that something unexpected is due to happen, which often occurs in movies of such genre.
