  4. Blessed are they that Mourn Mourns - to grieve, to be in sorrow Sorry for our sins Repentance The second Beatitude

  5. The Third Beatitude “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5

  6. Meek • Does not mean • Weakness, timid • Indifference • Inferiority complex • Coward • False humility

  7. Meek Break a young horse He will be Obedient Opposite of “self will” “stubbornness”

  8. Meek Power under control Willing to submit to God Demands great inner strength Person under control Allowing God to Control

  9. Meek Moses - Numbers 12:3 David - Psalms 37:11 Jesus - “for I am meek and lowly in heart:” Matt. 11:28-30 Meekness Is Christ-likeness

  10. Meekness is not… Self-seeking but is self-giving Self-willed but is God willed Self-glorification / self humiliation Compromise with evil but overcoming evil with Good Cowardice but is Courage Weakness but is Strength

  11. Christ showed Meekness Gentle not harsh - John 8 Leader not spineless - John 2 Suffered wrong but did no wrong Forgiving not vengeful – Lk.23:34 Yielded to the divine will “not as I will, but as thou wilt” Can be Learned

  13. Blessing for the Meek “Shall inherit the earth” Spiritual Meaning Get more out of life on earth “A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.” Ps. 37:16

  14. Blessing for the Meek Man of meekness is happier Abundant life here and… In the world to come eternal life. Secret of possessing everything Calmness - mildness
