Population pyramids are widely used to show the age structure of an individual country’s population
Stationary pyramids • Reflects an unchanging pattern of fertility and mortality which produces a regularly tapering pyramid
Progressive pyramid • Shows a high birth rate and a high death rate, resulting in a pyramid with a very wide base and a rapidly tapering top
Regressive pyramid • Reflects a declining birth rate and a low mortality rate. It has a narrowing base but relatively straight sides
