Project Outreach • Early and Ongoing Strategies: • Classroom presentation in 2016 to share design concept with high school students • Bassett Resource Fair in Oct 2018 • Ongoing coordination with the LA County Department of Parks and Recreation to incorporate community needs based on Countywide Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment • Outreach to community groups • Additional outreach activities are planned for the community to be involved in the project • Community outreach planned in summer 2019 • Public Feedback: • More STEM outreach activities for continued student involvement in the project • Planned Long-Term Project Messaging: • Project website will be developed • Interpretative educational signage will be installed

  6. Funding Details Funding: • Total Estimated Project Cost: $41.8M • Grant Request: $3M • Matching Funds: $38.8M • Los Angeles County General Fund • Estimated O&M costs per year: TBD

  7. Program Preferences • Project will address climate change through the installation of 210 trees. Estimated 717 metric tons of CO2 will be sequestered over 40 years. • Project contributes to regional water self-reliance by recharging the Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin. • Statewide Priorities Objectives addressed through Project: • Increases regional self-reliance and integrated water management across all levels of government • Manages and prepares region for dry periods • Expected Useful Life of 50 years • CEQA and Permit will be completed within 12 months of final award.

Benefits Project proposes to • Construct a 44.5 acre-foot underground infiltration gallery that captures, treats and infiltrates 668 acre-feet of stormwater during an average rainfall year. • Install demonstration garden, walking paths and outdoor classroom on campus. Project addresses critical needs of the GLAC Region: • Increase water supply • Improves water quality • Enhances open space and recreational features • Addresses climate change

Other Considerations • LA County has an excellent track record developing and implementing projects. • The Roosevelt Park Stormwater Capture Project, currently in construction, was a past recipient of the IRWM Grant. Grant was executed on December 2016. • Robust monitoring program for all stormwater capture projects • In 2020, Project may also be considered for funding through the Safe, Clean Water Program.
