Discover RUB-29, a microporous material with a unique structure of layered silicate "glued" by LiO4 layers. Stable above 450°C, it features mobile Li atoms below 250°C according to NMR. This innovative material demonstrates the potential for zeolites formation due to Li's tetrahedral framework, enabling efficient use of single-crystal and powder neutron techniques in structure determination.

RUB-29: Novel properties Structure: Layered silicate “glued” by LiO4 layers • 2 new building blocks • Stable to >450 C and stable to dehydration • All Li are mobile <250 C (from NMR)
Lithosilicates: a new class of microporous materials Li as a tetrahedral framework building block allows formation of “zeolites” that would be too strained with other elements. Combined use of synchrotron single-crystal and powder neutron allowed structure determination of RUB-29 (9 Si, 22 O, 8 Li and 8 H2O/Cs atoms).
