Terms of Reference of the Secretariat- 1 • To convene meetings on a regular basis of all the partner agencies; government, private and civil society stakeholders currently involved in activities of NIDDCP. • To prepare updates/ compile/ analyze/ interpret available information (surveys, studies, etc) on iodine status of the population salt use, production figures of iodized salt, sales trends, price trends, market availability and transportation
Terms of Reference of the Secretariat- 2 • To facilitate preparation of specific activities plans identified during the deliberation of National Coalition meetings by various partner agencies with dedicated funding from concerned agencies for those specific activities.
1. Regular Meeting of Coalition partners and Government Functionaries
6. Publication of advocacy booklet and quarterly iodine newsletter
7. Research on the priority areas as identified by the coalition
8. Representation on Government Expert Committees and Task Forces
Impact of National Coalition on USI and IDD in India • Sensitization of policy makers, salt manufacturers , traders and consumers about USI in India • Able to influence the government policies regarding USI in India • Synergy in the functioning of partner agencies towards achievement of USI • Improvement in quality of iodized salt and improved household coverage with adequately iodized salt
