  2. Materials • Holt (green) Textbook • Notebook Paper • Pen and Pencil

  3. Instructions • In this station you will be learning you will be learning how to analyze a theme from a literary text. • Echo and Narcissus is a myth that explores human nature and what happens to us when we are absorbed only in ourselves.

  4. Anticipation Questions Decide whether you agree or disagree with the following statements: • People judge others by their looks alone. • People judge others on more than their looks • Vain, self-centered people are often punished for their behavior. • Vain, self-centered people often get away with things.

  5. Quickwrite • Which of the previous statements do you agree or disagree with most strongly? • Explain what you think about that statement and why. • Use examples from your experiences.

  6. Now turn to page 523 in the Holt Literature Book (green) • Begin reading the story of Echo and Narcissus. Each person in your group must read a part of the story.

  7. Page 527 • Answer all of the questions on page 527 including the reading check questions. • You may discuss the questions together, but each person must write the answers on their paper.

  8. Writing Prompt • For questions number 7, make an argument about your answer and support it with details from the passage. • You must have at least 15 sentences and have at least 5 reasons from the text that support your answer.

  9. Graphic Organizer • Complete the Mythology Graphic Organizer for Echo and Narcissus.
