  1. M.A.G.I.C. Club Making America Great Involves Commitment

  2. The M.A.G.I.C. Club operates with the idea that everybody needs to do something now and continuously to improve our country. This certainly includes you. There are many important causes to be addressed and needy people who will benefit from your involvement. By demonstrating your commitment to the spirit of our nation and through sacrifice, for the common good, you can become a contributing and proud member of our group. Together we can and will help to change our community and the world. Will you help to change the world by volunteering to create a service project?

  3. Functions of the M.A.G.I.C. Club • Provides guidance for all Timothy Edwards Middle School students. • Publicizes the need to be involved and helps to coordinate the actions of all students in community service. • Provides a means of contact for the community to enlist student assistance when needed. • Allows students to work independently or with partners through inter-grade or inter-team projects that foster academic and social growth. • Unites and provides leadership for all grades to pursue a common purpose that can unite the school. • Instills pride in our country and oneself through action.

Here is how you can change the world • Realize that your community, nation, and world needs your involvement and that everyone’s contribution does make a difference. • Select a worthy cause to address. • Encourage your friends to assist you if needed. • Complete the Service Learning Contract and return to Mr. Bean in room 233. • Complete the Community Service Project Description and return to Mr. Bean in room 233. • Perform the community service faithfully. • Complete the Reflection Worksheet and return it to Mr. Bean in room 233. • Arrange for the Evaluation Worksheet to be completed and returned to Mr. Bean in room 233. • Listen for news regarding the M.A.G.I.C. Club ceremonies and celebrations.

Community Service Projects • Annual food drive – close to 40,000 pounds of food has been raised over the last two years • JDRF walk-a-thon • Volunteering at a soup kitchen • Collect donations to support needy medical clinics • Toy and clothing drives • Letter writing campaign for elderly shut-ins • Tab drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House • Environmental and neighborhood clean-ups • Volunteer for children’s fairs • Help a teacher • Shovel a sidewalk for elderly neighbors • Book drive for needy children in foreign nations • Hurricane relief – over $5,000 raised by the MAGIC Club and Leo Club • Medical kit collection

  7. Mr. Odierna Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service • Awarded once a year to seventh grade students who have completed a significant amount of community service during 6th and 7th grades. • The scholarship helps to pay for a portion of the Washington, D.C. field trip or may used as a savings bond. • Applications and announcements will be available in April or May of 2006.
