    3. Prewriting Instruction Form of Writing: Color Poetry Color Poetry is poems all about colors. We use color poetry to describe colors. Things we use to describe the colors are often the five senses: smell, taste, hear, see, and feel. Stage of Writing: Prewriting During prewriting we will use a graphic organizer to gather our thoughts and come up with ideas about a selected color. We will not write in complete sentences on our graphic organizer.

    5. Model of Color Poetry Blue is the color of the sky. Blue is the waves in the ocean crashing against the shore. Blue is the feeling I get sometimes when Im sad. Blue is the icy color of glacial snow. Blue smells like freshly washed bed sheets. Blue tastes like blueberry Kool-Aid. Blue sounds like jets soaring through the clouds. Blue looks like the clear waters of the Hawaiian waters as Im snorkeling. Blue feels like the snow on my face while Im skiing at Mt. Bachelor. Blue makes me want to put on my coat, hat and gloves.     6. Practice Activity for Prewriting Class Collaboration As a class we will complete the graphic organizer using the color red. Please raise your hand if you would like to volunteer to fill in a section when we get to it. I will write your responses up on the board.

    7. Assessment for Prewriting Now you are going to complete a graphic organizer on your own using the color of your choice except blue or red because we have already done those colors. Remember during prewriting we do not use complete sentences because we are brainstorming and writing down our ideas and thoughts.

    8. Drafting for Color Poetry Barbie Rainwater GPS-GPS-ELA3W2 The student writes in a variety of genres, including narrative, informational, persuasive, and response to literature. i. May include a draft that is revised and edited. PLO- The students will draft a color poem using the graphic organizer completed in prewriting.

    9. Instruction for Drafting Form of Writing-Color Poetry Color poetry is a form of writing in which you describe color using your five senses. Stage of Writing: Drafting During this stage we will use our graphic organizer, completed during prewriting, to write our poem using complete sentences. Leave a space between each sentence so that we can revise our poems later. The sentences do not have to be perfect we are just doing a rough draft of our poem.

    10. Model of Color Poetry GREEN IS..... It feels like Rabbit's fur. It sounds like the trees whistling in the breeze. It smells like apple cider. It looks like a Kawasaki dirt bike Green feels like a rabbit eating in the grass. Green looks like a Kawasaki dirt bike breaking into glass. Green sounds like the trees whistling in the breeze. Green smells like apple cider with whole bunch of bees. So next time when you're outside listen for green.

    12. Practice Activity for Drafting Class collaboration As a class we will construct a rough draft of our color poem using the graphic organizer completed together during prewriting. We will go through each box and if you have a complete sentence that I can write then raise your hand and I will call on you to give me your sentence. I will write the sentences on the board to create our rough draft color poem.

    13. Assessment for Drafting Using the graphic organizer you completed on your own, begin drafting your color poem. Remember to use complete sentences but do not focus on spelling or punctuation. Also make sure you have at least one sentence for each of the five senses. Lastly skip a line between each sentence so that you can revise your poem later.
