  1. Welcome Back to the Laytonsville Elementary School Computer Lab September 2006

  2. Getting Started Log in with your own username and password. Turn your volume down (in case the person before you forgot). Follow your teacher’s directions for beginning your work.

  3. While You’re Working • Stay focused on your own computer. • Be where you are supposed to be, doing what you are supposed to do! • Stay in your seat unless you have permission to get up.

  4. While You’re Working Hard • Keep your hands on your own computer. • Put your cup up if you have a question. • Use a quiet voice if you need to work with a partner or help a neighbor.

  5. Printing • Ask permission to print. • Put your name and your teacher’s name on every document you print (when possible). • Print only ONE copy of your work. • Ask before you get up to pick up your printing – your teacher may want to bring it to you.

  6. Logging Off • Close all windows first. • Use the Shutdown menu option to log off – Do NOT shut down completely unless you are the last class of the day!

  7. Cleaning Up • Make sure your computer station is ready for the next user. • Turn the volume down all the way. • Place your cup above your mouse. • Pick up all of your belongings. • Pack up your headphones (if necessary). • Push in your chair when you are directed to line up.

  8. Consequences • Warning • 5 minute time out • Loss of privileges for a day • Note home to parents • Permanent suspension of privileges

  9. Reminder • Rules apply when using classroom computers too! • Be where you are supposed to be, doing what you are supposed to do! • Keep your hands on your own computer. • Ask to print and put names on your work. • Log off and clean up.

  11. Homework • Take home Internet Safety brochure. • Share these key points with your family: • You will be supervised by an adult when using the Internet. • Teachers will preview websites used for lessons. • You will tell an adult if you are concerned about what you see on your computer.
