Engineering and Terrorism • New issue, stemming from attacks on September 11th • Nothing is totally safe from terrorism • “Going up the pipeline” -Find source and fix it, instead of waiting until it reaches the end of the pipeline
Engineers as Intelligent Robots • American engineers – education includes courses in humanities and social sciences - Think for themselves (“Intelligent Robots”) • Foreign engineers – learn specific trade - given direction by manager and perform action (“Unintelligent Robots”) - Chernobyl meltdown
