  1. Patterns in Decimal Division

  2. MCC5.NBT.2 Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.

  3. Essential Question: How can we use basic facts and patterns to divide with and without decimals?

  4. If I know that - 200 ÷ 5 = 40 & 20 ÷ 5 = 4 Then, what would be the answer to – 2 ÷ 5 = ** You know the answer will be a decimal because divisor is less than the dividend***

  5. If I know that - 400 ÷ 8 = 50 & 40 ÷ 8 = 5 Then, what would be the answer to – 4 ÷ 8 = ** You know the answer will be a decimal because divisor is less than the dividend***

  6. If I know that - 180 ÷ 6 = 30 & 18 ÷ 6 = 3 Then, what would be the answer to – 1.8 ÷ 6 = ** You know the answer will be a decimal because divisor is less than the dividend***
