ACCWIC - What We Do • Partner with child welfare agencies to implement strategies that build capacity to achieve sustainable, systemic change • Provide coordinated, individualized, intensive technical assistance to state and tribal child welfare agencies through implementation projects • Design evaluation methodologies to develop findings that inform implementation and facilitate continuous quality practice • Host the ACCWIC Learning Community to share resources and facilitate peer-to-peer learning

Exploration and Adoption • Identify need for intervention • Define the problem structured issue analysis • Understand the context organizational and readiness assessment • Assess project fit with community needs • Mobilize information and support • Garner leadership and stakeholder support
Project Installation • Define project goals • Engage internal and external stakeholders • Create project plan, communication plan, and change management plan • Identify initial implementation sites • Secure resources to support the project • Develop organizational and practice models and implementation strategies • Develop policy and practice standard operating procedures
Project Installation (cont) • Align and support people, process, structure, measurement/rewards, and technology around the desired change • Establish baseline performance • Define expected outcomes and benchmarks • Develop communication and feedback mechanisms to monitor implementation
Initial Implementation • Project initiates with Leadership championing the effort • Project Plans are communicated to internal and external stakeholders • Staff is trained, coached and mentored in the new practice • Data is collected and process adjustments made • Organizational climate is assessed to monitor system transition • Early progress “wins” are communicated • Progress is monitored to maintain schedule and momentum.
Full Implementation • Learning is integrated • *The project becomes the practice • Staff reach proficiency • Managers facilitate fidelity • Stakeholders adapted to practice • Procedures/Processes are routinized • Practice change is observable • Practice change is now the standard
Innovation • Changes to proposed model will be proposed • New conditions /knowledge emerges • New staff/stakeholders seek refinements • BUT - Important to differentiate drift from planned adaption/innovation • Ensure fidelity of practice prior to innovation • Changes should be planned based on analysis of feedback and evaluation findings
Sustainability • Ensure ongoing connection of stakeholders to the purpose of change • Promote visibility of new practice and successful outcomes • Ensure ongoing mid management support for the new practice • Monitor feedback on the new practice/address issues openly • Ensure leadership goes “into the field” to directly assess the practice change
