  1. Facts about Environmental Racism You Should be Aware of Environmental racism is a type of racism in which people of color are disproportionately subjected to health risks due to laws and practices that make it necessary for them to reside in hazardous areas. What does environmental racism mean? Policies and practices that have a systemic effect on oppression are regularly employed in order to effectively place low-income and communities of color next to infrastructure like major roadways or polluting facilities like power plants, plastics plants, and methane gas pipelines. People of color are exposed to a range of dangerous chemicals at a higher rate than White people and communities with better incomes due to living close to pollution, which is usually the same emissions causing the climate problem. Facts about environmental racism Communities of color may experience mental health issues due to living close to toxic dump sites or landfills. The same neighborhoods that experienced racial segregation also tend to have greater temperatures. In almost every city analyzed, studies have shown that previously segregated areas were hotter than those that weren't. According to research, communities of color, particularly black and poor communities, tend to have lesser fines imposed on companies that break environmental rules. The lack of diversity in groups working to combat climate change and in government positions impacts whether or not a group would defend the interests of communities of color. Around the world, there is environmental racism, which is a type of racial inequality. Racial injustice has a significant influence on society as a whole and must be addressed collaboratively.
