  2. Background • Born in Dorset, England • First work as a chart corrector • She had a role in plotting the D-day invasion • Started photography after studying it at Guildford College. • Her “big break” was when the Observer published its first Jane Bown photo in 1949

  3. Accomplishments • Has over fifty years of experience with photographs • Received an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) from the Queen of England (1985) • She was promoted to a CBE in 1995

  4. Facts • Always shoots in black and white • Uses a 40 year old film camera • Does not have any assistants • Has had a total of ten books published
