  2. Did You Know ! Every hair on your head or on your body is made up of a root, the soft, bulb-shaped section under your skin, and the shaft, the longer strand that sticks out of your skin Some people with curly hair are unhappy with it and have their hair straightened, while others with straight hair take “permanent waves” to make their hair curly. But both of these changes are only temporary, lasting only a short time, for the shape of the shaft cannot be changed, and as that person’s hair grows out, it will look the same as before the change.

  3. Why We Have Curly Or Straight Hair • If you were to cut a shaft of your hair from near the root and look at a cross-section of it under a microscope, it would have either of two shapes: round or flat. If it appears round, that means your hair will grow out straight; if that cross-section appears flat, that means your hair will grow at different rates in different places, making it curl or wave. The flatter the shaft, the curlier it will be. The shape of your hair shafts is determined by the shape of your parents’ hair shafts, for this is one of the characteristics you inherited from them.

  4. How Is Hair Related To Biology

  5. Different Color Hair According to the geneticist Luigi L. Cavalli-Sforza, the variety of hair colors we see among people today may be the result of a force called sexual selection. Sexual selection is a force, like natural selection, that shapes evolutionary trajectories. But unlike natural selection, sexual selection focuses specifically on traits related to procuring mates According to this theory, diversity in hair color may be the result of more eye-catching hair colors arising by chance, and those rare colors giving their owners an advantage when it came to attracting a mate. Better success at attracting a mate would have meant better success at producing offspring, who would then carry the genes for new hair colors and pass them along to their own off spring.

  7. How To Care For Straight Hair 1.Brush Your Hair So It Is Tangle Free Before You Get It Wet. 2.Wet Your Hair Thoroughly 3.Poor A Shampoo the size of a quarter into your hand, and foam it up by rubbing your hands together. Work the shampoo in to your hair scrubbing the scalp with your finger tips and benign careful not to snarl the ends to much. Hair should not be shampoo’d daily.twice a week if you can or every other day. 4.Condition your hair with a good condition, it will help keep your hair healthy and will make it easier to untangle after shampooing, if you have dry hair you will need to use a moisturizing conditioner, However if you have oily hair you should use a basic condition to keep your ends healthy 5.Keep a wide-toothed comb in the shower and comb through your hair before you rinse the conditioner out. 6.Rinse the conditioner out completely;bening extra careful not to snarl the ends 7.Blot the hair with a towel and comb it out once more. 8.Have a hair stylist cut your hair every four to six weeks to remove any split ends.

  8. How TO Care For Curly Hair Find a good stylist first Ask if they know anything about the technique of "twist-cutting", which is great for curly hair. Ask your friends, strangers, someone whose hair you admire, etc. It's best to get recommendations from people who have the same hair type as yours. When you visit the salon also ask for a more experienced person, it may cost a little more but it is worth it. Realize that you don't need to shampoo everyday, but do condition every time you are in the shower. Choose a shampoo and conditioner that leaves your hair feeling good to you. You don't want hair that was washed and still feels like you have product left or leaves it feeling dry even if it isn't. Wash with cold water. Cold water helps making hair shinier, locks in moisture, and reduces frizz. Dry-brushing is a common cause of frizziness. Unless you're blow drying your hair straight, use your fingers to comb your dry hair. Don't use too much product. With a styling milk, gel or mousse, put some into your palm and rub your palms together. The product will warm up as you rub and distribute better by not 'globbing' onto one spot. You want to evenly distribute the product through your hair, so you will need to use more if you have longer hair.

  9. Caring For Curly Hair • Use a product straight out of the shower, when your hair is still wet. This will 'trap' the moisture and get you thick, moisture-rich curls. When your hair dries, if you look like you have smothered your hair with gel and don't care for that look, take your towel and sort of scrunch your dry hair. This will take the 'wet rat' look out of your hair and leave it 'natural looking' (cotton t-shirts work well; they absorb the moisture, but don't leave frizzy hair ,paper towels can also be used). • Choose to air dry or blow dry. Try them both out. Blow drying completely dry can cause frizzies, but a diffuser attachment can prevent this. You may also find that if you stop before it's completely dry that will also tame the frizzies. Try to air dry on the weekends or at night. • Detoxify your hair about once a month. Your hair is one of the most absorbent and dirtiest parts of your body. Think of the smog, pollution, germs from sneezes and coughs, smoke, etc. that you encounter every day. All of this can get trapped in your hair. If you smoke or someone around you does, your hair will trap and smell like smoke. So even if you choose to live with the frizz and not use anything in your hair, please use a detoxifier once in a while. It will help your hair. • Don't fight the curl! This is one of the worst things you can do. Put down the straightening creams, flat irons, and blow dryers. Embrace your spirals!
