IV is acting on the European level as an „umbrella organization“, overarching • Teacher associations • School board federations • Networks of Christian Schools • Teacher Training Institutes, with a Protestant background IV collaborates closely with ICCS

European Conference 2011 Main contents (1): • European Citizenship Education on the agenda of the European institutions and the attitude of these organizations towards religion and churches (Review by Eckhart Marggraf) • Which role does religion play in the education of our citizens? - Which role does Europe play? European Conference 2011 Outcomes of the conference: - Information about European activities concerning Education for Democratic Citizenship - Awareness of the crucial role of schools for identity building and democracy learning - Understanding the personal qualities and competences underlying democratic behaviour - Perception of the importance of interreligious and intercultural dialogue for a democratic society - Familiarity with different models of democracy learning and citizenship education in Christian schools
