Societal Views on Women: Stereotypes and Expectations Explored

In our project, we distributed a survey to students regarding societal views on women, uncovering various stereotypes and expectations. Key findings revealed contrasting perceptions: while some see women as empowered individuals deserving equal rights, others view them through reductive lenses, depicting them as housewives or objects. The survey highlighted expected roles, from caregiving to professional aspirations, illustrating a need for change. We argue that women should fight for their rights, act with dignity, and defy societal constraints while pursuing their passions.

  2. Our Project • We handed out a survey to some students around our school on societies views on Women, societies stereotypes on women, work women should be able to do, if women deserve more respect and how women should act according to society. Some of the things we found were…

Societies Views on Women • Housewife • Sexy • Model Skinny • Beautiful • Athletic • Take care of the kids • Cook and Clean • Equal rights as men • Less skilled than men • It’s almost like a coin one side says they are people that have rights and are moving up in society the other side says that they are sex toys and used to get what men want.

  4. Stereotypes on Women • “Get in the kitchen!” • “Tall, Blonde, long legs, and blue eyes.” • They make food. • Sandwiches • Annoying • Hookers • Nurses

  5. Work women should be able to do • Anything but hard labor • Any work they can do as well as or better than men • Example jobs: Nurse, Doctor, Secretary, Model, Lawyer, Teacher, Athlete, Journalist, Engineer, ect.

  6. How women should act • We believe that women are expected to do what they are asked. Also we believe that society thinks that women shouldn’t ask questions or talk back. Another thing we think society wants women to do is not argue against authority or fight for what they believe. • In our opinion we believe that women should act with class and respect themselves. Women should fight for what they believe in and do things that they want to do.
