  1. Library • You need to access the IUP Library to conduct your literature review • Useful databases include Academic Search Complete, Medline, etc. • Be sure to use peer-reviewed journal articles, valid resources, etc.

  2. Assignment • The purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to complete a literature review using some of the research tools presented in this course. • The review of literature should present the current status of published research dealing with the subject matter which will be examined your research. • For this assignment, identify the library references that you will use in your literature review. Submit the list of references to the instructor by the due date listed in the syllabus. • This means all references: Books, websites, articles, etc.

  3. Citations • Use an approved method of citing the references • Use Parenthetical citations in the paper • APA • Journal Article: • Devine, P. G., & Sherman, S. J. (1992). Intuitive versus rational judgment and the role of stereotyping in the human condition: Kirk or Spock? Purpose of the Literature Review • You are proposing to conduct a study of some type • Use the literature review to: • Justify the fact that the broad area you will be studying is an issue of importance • Identify the status of the research in the field to date • Identify gaps that exist in the current research • Justify the need for your proposed study and it’s significance to the research base
