  1. PROJECT MIGRANTS+ financed by the Lifelong Learning Program of the European Commission

  2. PROJECT MIGRANTS+ AIMS AT training trainers, mediators and support staff on how to assess the basic skills and competencies of adult migrants and their learning needs by using a software tool and also at developing life long learning opportunities for adult migrants.

  3. SPECIFIC AIMS OF THE PROJECT: • prepare migrants in their own country (offering migrants the opportunity for self – assessment in their own country), • developing life long learning opportunities for adult migrants in basic skills, • developing the skills of training staff, persons in the administration,who frequently deals with migrants, enhancing active participation of migrants in host society as equal members and preventing their marginalization.

  4. BENEFICIARES OF THE MIGRANTS+ PROJECT MIGRANTS • immigration centres, • training centres, • educational centres, • NGOs.

  5. SOFTWARE TOOL used in the MIGRANTS+ project: SAOS Self Assessment of Skills A software that can assess the basic skills of the interested person.

  6. The existing units of SAOS tool evaluate the following competencies: • Internet, • Human Relation, • Numeracy, • Communication, • Occupational Health, • ICT, • Employment Laws and Social Security, • Intercultural Competence, • Human Rights.

  7. After finishing test SAOS tool proposes users individualised training curricula. SAOS tool is based on a self-assessmentmodel that takes into consideration different parameters of individual person (educational background, work experience, available skills, etc.)

  8. It is planned to invite 180 respondents in age between 24 and 65 from Czech Republik, Germany, Italy, Turkey, United Kingdom and 30 respondents from Poland for the pilot research. The aims of the pilot applications will be the assessment of the impact of the tool on the target users. The evaluation of the suitability of the tests used in the tool, the assurance that tool meets its objectives and provides the users with concise and personalized information on the knowledge needed in some basic skills, in order to better integrate in their country of residence.
