Report Cards & Parent Communication • Students do not receive an official district report card first nine weeks • Grades will be taken on work and reported to parents at a first nine weeks teacher conferences. • Second, Third, and Fourth nine weeks parents will receive a district issued report card. Grades will be displayed as A, B, C, D, or F. • If there is a concern the teacher will contact parents to arrange other conferences as needed. • Parents may request a conference at any time by phone, letter, or e-mail.

  13. Volunteering • Classroom parties and seasonal activities are planned throughout the year. • Share about careers during our When I Grow Up Unit in October. • Garden Day, Field Day, and other Special School Events

  14. Water Bottles & Snack • Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school. • Water Bottles • Students will have a morning snack each day, if they choose to bring one. • Snacks should be easy for the student to open and healthy. • Parents can send in snacks for whole class.

  17. DRA = Diagnostic Reading Assessment • Each nine weeks we reassess students to record growth and ensure they are reading at the correct level. The following are the benchmark levels for the end of each nine weeks. • First nine weeks Level 4 • Second nine weeks Level 8 • Third nine weeks Level 12 • Fourth nine weeks Level 16

  19. Guided Reading • Students work at 3 different stations daily • Students work with me in small groups with texts that are at their reading level. It is for building phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.

  21. “WREN READS” • Goal – 50 books for each 9 weeks • Start -September. • Students will take home/keep the reading logs (in their WES folder) • Write down the title/author of books • Turn in when the sheet is full. • Each 25 books read receives a reward! ***Reading Celebration***

  23. Field Trip Information • Students will have two field trips this school year. This is the number of field trips allowed by our school administration. *Greenville Discovery Museum *Peace Center • Space Restrictions • Chaperone transportation

  24. School Supplies • Always need quart/gallon ziploc bags and liquid soap. • Throughout the year, we will need to replenish our glue sticks and hand cleaner. • Special requests for items during the year.
