  3. Reasons for Participation There are many reasons for participation in physical activity: Cooperation Competition Physical challenge Aesthetic appreciation

  5. Cooperation Many sports are played in teams Working in groups helps improve teamwork and cooperation Netball, football, rugby, and hockey are good examples of this

  6. Competition

  7. Competition Competition can be seen as psychological in terms of: - psychological preparation - escape from the stresses of life When competing, most people put aside outside problems and concentrate on doing well in their sport

  8. Physical Challenge

  9. Physical Challenge Coming back to a sport after a long time away from it Completing a nearly impossible task, for example climbing Mount Everest The London Marathon is a good example of this
