  2. Born on October 22, 1811 • Adam Liszt loved music • Franz learned to play piano at the age of 6 • Franz was given his first piano at 7 years old Franz, age 12

  3. Mastered pieces by Hummel and Bach • Czerny agreed to be piano teacher to Franz • Prince finally agrees to let Adam move Franz to Vienna

  4. First concert in 1820 • Noblemen offered to pay for Franz’s education • Franz and family arrive in Vienna in 1822 • Salieri also starts to teach Franz

  5. Franz meets Beethoven • Franz plays piano for Beethoven • Franz spends 25 years doing Beethoven’s nine symphonies • Liszt is responsible for Beethoven statue erected in 1845 Beethoven Statue, Bonn

  6. Franz and family move to Paris • Franz meets Sebastian Erard • Franz given a new 7 octave piano • Franz advertised as and Erard artist Erard Piano

  7. Teachers are Reicha and Paer • Liszt debut in March of 1824 • Franz played at Windsor Castle in England • Don Sanche performed in October 1825 • Adam Liszt dies Windsor Castle, England

  10. Liszt finds love again • Has 3 children • Elopes to Switzerland • Travelled Europe and Asia Minor from 1838-1847 • Returns to Paris in 1844 Liszt performing at the piano. The year is 1840; the place is a salon in Paris. His audience includes famous writers and musicians, (left to right) Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, Georges Sand, Niccolo Paganini, and Gioacchinio Rossini, as well as Liszt's mistress, the Countess Marie d'Agoult.
