WHAT IS A RECOUNT? • A recount is a piece of writing that retells something that happened in the past • All of the events must go in order from beginning to end • In your recount you must answer the questions (who? what? when? where? why?) • Recounts are non-fiction
RECOUNT PLANNER TITLE The title should be interesting and catchy and give the reader an idea of what the recount is about. You must use capitals! ORIENTATION In 1 or 2 sentences answer the questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? In 1-2 paragraphs, tell the reader what happened. Make that your events are in order. Use your step words and make sure that you use descriptive words. SEQUENCE OF EVENTS In 1-2 sentences, describe your feelings about the events PERSONAL COMMENT

Once everyone was there, it was time to head to the restaurant called Joe dogs Restaurant. We eated food then danced for a while and chatted with friends. Soon, it was time for the countdown. Once the New Year came, everyone hugged and lafed and sipped their champagne! Soon the night was over and we all walked back to my house. After a short time, everyone went home, and I was finally able to go to sleep New Year’s Eve, 2010 was a very exciting time! I had a lot of fun with my friends!
