  3. What is the Circulatory System Main parts of the system are the heart, arteries, capillaries and veins. Your blood is thicker than water. Your blood has a bit of salty taste. The heart sends blood around the body. The heart is a very hard worker. Return to Exhibit

  4. Parts The heart has 4 chambers. The heart is a muscle that pumps blood to all parts of the body. Blood is special body fluid. There are red and white blood cells. Red blood cells are what keep our bodies healthy. They help us repair tissue when something happens to it. We all need red blood cells to live. Red blood cells make your blood bright and contain protein. White blood cells are found in the body when we are sick with an infection. White blood cells can move in and out of the bloodstream. Within our bodies we have both arteries and veins. Between these arteries and veins are capillaries. The heart is the key organ of the circulatory system. Your heart beat allow you to do everything. Return to Exhibit

  5. Functions The heart is a muscle. Your heart is the size of your clenched fist. Your heart contracts and relaxes approximately 70 beats every a minute. The brain tells the heart when to speed up and when to slow down. Inside the heart you find 4 different chambers. The chambers at the top of the heart are called atria and the 2 chambers at the bottom of the heart are called ventricles. Blood moves through the heart and through different valves within the heart. These valves do not allow blood to go backwards. Inside our bodies are long blood vessels. Some of them are called arteries and some are called veins. Arteries carry blood away from the heart and have lots of oxygen in it. Veins carry blood to the heart where it gets a fresh supply of oxygen. Blood in veins doesn’t have much oxygen left in it. Capillaries are areas where blood with lots of oxygen and blood with little oxygen come together and an exchange takes place. Return to Exhibit

  6. Ailments and Conditions Heart disease is when muscles or arteries around your heart don’t work properly. Heart disease can cause chest pains and you can also get cancer but it is very rare. A heart attack is when you don’t get enough blood to the heart and it can stop working. A stroke is when your brain doesn’t get enough oxygen and your brain cells die. High blood pressure can cause a stroke or a heart attack. People who have problems with their arteries and veins in their arms and legs have circulatory problems. This is called arterio-sclerosis. This means the blood vessels are smaller and blood has a harder time getting through them. Return to Exhibit

  7. How to stay Healthy You have to exercise and eat fruits and vegetables. Don’t eat too much candy. Don’t smoke or else you will get black lungs, narrow blood vessels and you won’t be healthy. Don’t be overweight and stay at a healthy weight. Don’t play too many video games and you shouldn’t watch more than 2 hours of TV. People should be out for walks. Return to Exhibit

  9. What is the Digestive System The digestive systems job is to give energy to the human body and to do that it has to break down food so it can be absorbed. This system allows us to move and do tons of different activities. This system gets rid of waste and keeps our body clean. Return to Exhibit

  10. Parts The digestive system is made up of several parts. And are the mouth, salivary glands, tongue, epiglottis, esophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine and the anus. Here is a human body game And also there is a jigsaw puzzle Return to Exhibit

  11. Functions • There are many parts of the digestive system and each one of them have many functions and here I list all of them. • The mouth breaks down food with the teeth into small enough pieces so we can swallow. The salivary glands produce saliva made up of 98% water and 2% of enzymes to help break down food in the mouth. The tongue is a muscle that pushes around food in your mouth to the teeth and also pushes the food down the opening of the esophagus. The esophagus is a long tube extending from your stomach to your mouth, the esophagus takes broken down food to the stomach by using muscles in the walls of the esophagus. The epiglottis is a little patch of skin that prevents food from getting into the trachea and into the lungs. The Pancreas is one of the most important organs in your body its job is to produce enzymes and hormones that control your sugar level in your blood, there for if you do not have one you wouldn’t last very long without one. The livers job is to produce bile that helps break down food in the stomach. The gallbladders job is to store extra bile made by the liver in case if you have a big meal and your liver runs out your gallbladder sends out some more to the stomach. The stomach is an L shaped organ that mashes up all of the food with stomach acid like bile from the liver and enzymes from the pancreas, after it churns it up for a few hours the stomach opens a valve at the bottom of the stomach and goes into the small intestine. The small intestine is made of three parts called the duodenum, jejunum, and the ileum. These parts have an important job, their job is to absorb the nutrients from the food. In the walls of the intestine are little the capillaries and it takes the nutrients like vitamins, sugar, minerals, protein. Here is a animation on how the body works Return to Exhibit

  12. Ailments and Conditions Heart burn is caused by eating a lot of junk food everyday or all the time. Colon cancer is caused by a lack of fibre in your body without fibre your intestine gets backed up with waste and it dries and after that it starts to hurt. High cholesterol can be caused by eating too much junk food or it could be in the family and can cause diseases in your heart. Eating disorders are when you eat too much or when don’t eat at all. When you don’t eat at all your body won’t take the food it will reject it by vomiting. Constantly vomiting is bad for the esophagus because the stomach has a lining of mucus that the stomach acids can’t destroy but since the esophagus doesn’t have that lining of mucus it’s important to not vomit constantly because it will slowly destroy the esophagus. Return to Exhibit

  13. How to stay Healthy To prevent colon cancer it is important to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables that contains fibre and cleans out the intestine by getting rid of waste. Maintain a healthy weight that can reduce the risk of a heart attack and heart burn by exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet. Try to avoid eating at fast food restaurants or eat there occasionally and not constantly. Drink water daily to remain hydrated at all times without water we could not survive. Do not eat quickly because the food could get stuck in the trachea and you could choke. Do not drink too much alcohol because it is bad for your pancreas and other internal organs like the brain. Return to Exhibit

  14. Nervous System Skeletal System Functions Parts What is the Nervous System? How to stay Healthy Ailments & Conditions Return to Entry

  15. What is the Nervous System The nervous system is called the nervous system because it’s made up of all the nerves in your body. Your brain is the center of the nervous system and controls everything you do. The forebrain is the largest part of your brain. You could not walk, talk, breathe or think without it. The nervous system is very important. Here is a video on what is the nervous system Return to Exhibit

  16. Parts and organs • Parts and organs • now I‘m going to tell you about the parts and organism the nervous system of the brain. The forebrain is on top of the mid brain and the hindbrain and controls everything you do. The midbrain is located in the middle of the hindbrain and the forebrain and acts as the master coordinator. The hind brain is located under the midbrain. It consists the cerebellum, Pons and medulla. Many of the nerves are found in the brain and have charge functions body needs to stay alive. The central nervous system consists brain and nervous system. The sensory nerves pick up electrical signals from the body and tell the brain what kind of movement to make. The motor nerves tell the muscles how to move. Your spinal cord is safety tucked inside your backbone. It has two main jobs. First it carries signals between your brain and other parts of your body. Second, it makes reflexes happen. A reflex is what makes your hand jerk back from a steaming stove without even thinking about it. And that’s all you need to know about the parts and organs Return to Exhibit

  17. Functions Functions The third thing I’m about to tell you is about the functions, and how they work. When the brain reacts the nerves go down and when the brain isn’t doing anything the nerves go back up. The nerves get signals and bring it to the brain so it can react about what the nerves tell the brain to do. The nervous system contains all the neurons you`ll ever have. The brain intercepts the nerve signal and brings everything out. But many aren’t connected. The brain has billions of tiny neurons. As you grow and learn messages travel from one neuron to another and all over again. Here is a video about the functions Return to Exhibit

  18. Ailments and Conditions Aliments Problems that can affect the brain include diseases that will spread all over the body and you may die. Concussions are caused by a hard hit on the head with something and may cause dizziness or cause amnesia. If not wearing a seat belt you could fly out through the windshield and may damage brain . Migraines are caused by listening to something very loud like a radio cranked up really high and you start to have tiny pain in your head called headache. And that can be very annoying to have. So that’s all you need to know about the aliments Return to Exhibit

  19. How to stay Healthy How to stay healthy Problems Problems that can affect the brain include diseases that will spread all over the body and you may die. But things you can do to stay healthy are no smoking and don't take drugs. Concussions are caused by a hard hit on the head but you can wear a helmet if doing something that can maybe make you fall. If not wearing a seat belt you could fly out through the windshield and may damage your brain. So try to stay healthy for the nervous system. So that’s all you need to know about the nervous system and on how to stay healthy. Return to Exhibit

  20. Respiratory System Skeletal System Functions Parts What is the Respiratory System? How to stay Healthy Ailments & Conditions Return to Entry

  21. What is the Respiratory System The breathing in the respiratory system is important and if the respiratory system stopped working then you wouldn’t be alive. Return to Exhibit

  22. Parts There are eight different parts to the respiratory I will name them. The parts of in your body are the Nose and mouth brings air in and pushes air out trachea connects the nose and mouth to the two lungs. The right lung has three. The left lung has two. The lungs connect to the bronchioles. The alveolus goes and brings air to the capillaries. That will bring air to the body. Return to Exhibit

  23. Functions You are wondering how it the respiratory system works? Well I will tell you. It starts with the nose and mouth that breathes oxygen in and breaths out carbon dioxide, which connects to the trachea which brings the air to the lungs and brings carbon dioxide out, which connects to the lungs which hold air and connects to the bronchiols, which connects to the alveoli, which puts oxygen and spreads throughout your body. Then the diaphragm pushes the carbon-dioxide out and in reverse. Return to Exhibit

  24. Ailments and Conditions There are some medical problems in the Respiratory system well I will tell you. Smoking- if you smoke or breathe in smoke it will turn your lungs black. Pollution- like smoking you do not want to breathe it in or it will hurt your lungs. Asthma- it closes your trachea a bit and makes it harder to breathe Return to Exhibit

  25. How to stay Healthy Do you now want to know how to stay healthy? Well I will tell you. Do not smoke, and exercise at least one hour a day to have low blood pressure. Return to Exhibit

  26. Skeletal & Muscular Systems Skeletal System Functions Parts What is the Skeletal & Muscular System How to stay Healthy Ailments & Conditions Return to Entry

  27. What is the Skeletal & Muscular System Hi I’m about to tell you about the muscle and skeleton system. Without bones we would be floppy. And would not be able to do anything are bones are kind of like a fossil in a museum. Everyone in the world has 12 pairs of ribs attached to the spin in your back. Every time you move you work your bones. All your muscles are made of the same materiel which is called the elastic tissue. Every muscle is connected to at least two bother bones. And that is all I know about the skeleton and muscle system. Return to Exhibit Muscle games

  28. Parts I’m going to tell you about parts and organs. There are up to 22 organs in our bodies. And when you are born you have over 300 bones in your body. You have 206 bones about after your bones fuse together. Do you know what vertebras are? There your backbones that are around your spiral cord that protects it. And that’s all I know about the parts and organs. Return to Exhibit

  29. Functions I’m going to tell you about the function on the body. The joints in your body let you move around. And your muscles help you pick up things all your muscles and bones work together. Like all your backbones help you stand up and move around. And your jaws control your mouth. Just think about it whenever you eat your teeth have to chew that food all up. And that’s all I know about function how do the parts work. Return to Exhibit FUNCTION GAMES

  30. Ailments and Conditions I’m going to tell you about your ailments and condition. When you do a movement that is dangerous you can break or fracture your bones. Like any unsafe action can make you break bones or pull your muscles. It is very possible to sprain or twist your wrist or ankle. Did you know that there is a disease that is called muscular dystrophy? It’s when your muscles start wasting energy and you start to get weak. And that’s all I know about ailments and conditions. Return to Exhibit

  31. How to stay Healthy I’m going to tell you about how to stay healthy. To stay healthy you have to exercise almost every day. Like drink lots of milk to keep your bones strong. Also eat healthy food most of the time. Stay healthy it’s better for you. Also don’t eat unhealthy food to much because it’s not too good for you. And that’s how to keep your body healthy.
