  1. Notes: Mass/Weight/Density • MASS:·More mass in a dump truck than a mid-size car·Difference between MASS and VOLUME mass=amount of matter in an object volume=amount of space an object takes up • Mass is measured in grams and kilograms • WEIGHT:·Attraction between two objects due to gravity·Distance between objects determines "pull"·Weight is measured in Newtons using a spring scale and is recorded as (N) • Newtons is the measure of force: 1kg=9.8NMASS REMAINS CONSTANT BUT WEIGHT CAN CHANGE.....ASTRONAUTS (weightless)!!!!!!

  2. DENSITY·Relationship between mass and volume· • Density=Mass/Volume • Density of H2O is 1 g/mL • Objects with less than 1g/mL density will float, objects with greater than 1g/mL density will sink • 1cc=1mL=1gH2O

  3. m (g) Mass Divide g/cc g/mL g/cm3 mL Cc cm3 v d multiply Density Volume
