  1. Polymer-coated adenovirus are protected against neutralizing antibodiesSuzie H. Pun, University of Washington, DMR 0706647 Overall Goal: Develop a polymeric coating that self-assembles with and potentiates adenoviral (AdV) vectors. Results summary: We synthesized and evaluated 10 different peptide-polymer materials for their ability to coat AdV and increase transduction efficiency to CAR-negative cells. The optimal polymer was able to increase the % transduced cells by up to 6-fold in three different cell lines. Top Figure: Schematic of virus coating with branched peptide-HPMA copolymer. Middle figure: TEM images of virus and coated virus. Bottom figure: Polymer coating protects adenovirus from neutralizing antibodies. This transduction was conducted in CHO-K1 CAR-negative cells. 2. Spatially-controlled immobilization of polyplexesSuzie H. Pun, University of Washington, DMR 0706647 The Pun Laboratory presented for University of Washington’s Math Academy, a program that supports 36 high school juniors from underrepresented minority backgrounds in a 4-week residential session at UW. The Pun lab prepared lectures and several hands on demonstrations.
