  1. Is Your Name Written There? “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” - Luke 10:20 cf. Hebrews 12:23

  2. Something In A Name! • Names are special! • Some say – “there is nothing in a name” • Some say – “there is SOMETHING in a name” • Some say – “One church is good as another” • Why do we have names! • How confusing if all had the same name! • Names identify and specify!

  3. Names Are Special! • Your name is special! • Where has your name appeared? • Birth certificate? School records? News paper? • Tax records? Mailing list? • Employment records? • Where your name appears… • Could be a place of honor! • Could be a place of dishonor! • Is your name “Written in Heaven?”

  4. Does God Keep Such A record? • If he does… • I want my name to be there! • Do YOU? • If he does not… • This lesson is needless & pointless! • What does the Bible teach about this?

  5. Jesus confirms He does! • “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” - Luke 10:17-20 • Heb. 12:23; Rom. 8:16, 26; Jas. 1:18 • Rev. 3:5; 20:12, 15; 21:27

  6. Paul confirms He does! • “And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life” - Philippians 4:3 • The scriptures confirm that God keeps such a record!

  7. One’s Name Can Be Blotted Out! • Who is this??? • Those who sin! • “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels” – Rev. 3:5 • This refutes the Calvinistic doctrine called: • “Perseverance of the saints” • The “P” of the “TULIP” Doctrine! • “Once saved, always saved” • Or “The impossibility of apostasy”

  8. Quotes of Calvinist • “We take the position that a Christian's sins do not damn his soul. The way a Christian lives, what he says, his character, his conduct, or his attitude toward other people have nothing whatever to do with the salvation of his soul... All the prayers a man may pray, all the Bibles he may read, all the churches he may belong to, all the services he may attend, all the sermons he may practice, all the debts he may pay, all the ordinances he may observe, all the laws he may keep, all the benevolent acts he may perform will not make his soul one whit safer; and all the sins he may commit from idolatry to murder will not make his soul in any more danger...The way a man lives has nothing whatever to do with the salvation of his soul...The way I live has nothing whatsoever to do with the salvation of my soul.” (Do A Christian's Sins Damn His Soul?, Sam Morris, First Baptist Church, Stamford, Texas). • Source: http://www.padfield.com/1998/sin.html

  9. Hiscox’s Standard Baptist Manual • “We believe the Scriptures teach that such are truly regenerate, being born of the Spirit, will not utterly fall away and finally perish, but will endure unto the end; that their preserving attachment to Christ is the grand mark which distinguishes them from superficial professors; that a special providence watches over their welfare; and they are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.” • By Dr. Edward T. Hiscox, XII. The Perseverance Of Saints, page 140

  10. Quotes By Baptist Preachers • “If I killed my wife and mother and debauched a thousand women, I couldn’t go to hell…in fact, I couldn’t go to hell if I wanted to.”(Sam Morris) • Source: http://www.bible.ca/cal-P-creeds.htm • “If I left my wife and ran off with a 16 year old girl, God would work it out for my good.”(Quote of Hoyt Chastain in debate with A.C. Grider) • Source: http://www.christiancourier.com/penpoints/baptist_rules.htm Proposition affirmed by Kent Brandenburg, a Baptist Preacher, in March of 2006 debate! “The Scriptures teach that a child of God, one saved by the blood of Christ, cannot so sin as to be lost eternally in hell“ FALSE DOCTRINE

  11. Doctrines of Men vs. God’s Word Sam Morris “…and all the sins he may commit from idolatry to murder will not make his soul in any more danger...The way a man lives has nothing whatever to do with the salvation of his soul...The way I live has nothing whatsoever to do with the salvation of my soul.“ The Apostle Paul “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God” (Gal. 5:19-20).

  12. Hebrews 3:12-13 “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

  13. Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

  14. The Holy Spirit confirms He does! • “18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” – Rev. 22:18-19

  15. “Fallen From Grace” • Galatians 5:1-7 • The Galatians… • Were not steadfast – vs. 1 • Became in tangled – vs. 1; 2 Peter 2:20-21 • Made Christ of “none effect” – vs. 2 • Fell from Grace – vs. 4 • Not acting by faith – vs. 5 & 6; Heb. 11 • Not waiting for the ONE hope – vs. 5 • Not running well & hindered – vs. 7 • Disobeyed the truth – vs. 7 • Were of the wrong persuasion – vs. 8

  16. Falling…..? • To fall from a ladder requires you to first be on the ladder! • To “fall from Grace” requires one to first be in the Grace of God!

  17. Moses Confirms He Does! • “Yet now, if You will forgive their sin-but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written” – Ex. 32:32 • Moses offers his life and soul for the Israelites! • Moses the knew God kept such records!

  18. Malachi Confirms He Does! • “Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name” – Mal. 3:16

  19. God Said He Does! • “And the LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book” – Ex. 32:33 • Moses was right! – See vs. 32 • THESE PROOF TEXTS CONFIRM THAT GOD DOES KEEP SUCH A RECORD!

  20. Whose Name Is Written There? • Those who “come unto” Christ – Matt. 11:28 • The “Whole” or “Righteous” - Matt. 9:12-13 • Those “Reconciled To God” - Col. 1:20-21 • Rom. 5:10 • Those in the “One Body” – Eph. 2:16: 4:1-6 • Those Taught & Perfected by The Truth! – Eph. 4 • The “Born Again” – Jn. 3:3-6 • He that “Abideth In The Doctrine Of Christ” • 2 Jn. 9-11
