  2. Location of the Volcano Mount Katmai is near King Salmon, Alaska. Its located in North America, 58.3N, 155.0W and its elevation is 6,714 feet (2,047m). Katmai is 100 to 700foot deep and the diameter is about 400 meters. Katmai’s height is about 210 feet (65m).

  3. INFORMATION Mount Katmai is an active volcano, but its has not erupted since the last couple of years. It’s a medium explosion meaning that it can be quiet or it can be loud or very explosive.When Katmai erupts, the withdrawal of magma from beneath the cluster of small volcanoes at Katmai caused the area to collapse and produce a caldera. Also there are at least 14volcanoes in Katmai considered active.

  4. More Information This Volcano is a caldera because when it erupts, enormous volumes of ash and dust which sweeps down the slopes in avalanches. Mount Katmai has caused many damages because it has caused many areas to collapse and could of caused other damages in states. It is also affecting the animals that live near the volcano. About 2,000 brown bears live in this area. Some of them have died because of the eruptions. But some have survived by the destructive volcano.

  5. HISTORY OF ERUPTIONS Mount Katmai has erupted for more than 10 times in the last 7,000 years. The 1912 eruption of Katmai was the largest in North America in this century. Katmai National park is where most of the eruptions have started. When Katmai has been erupted, all you can see is ash because that is what the mount is covered with after the eruption has ended. The Katmai eruption was 10 times more forceful than the 1980 Mount Saint Helens eruption.
