  10. Virginia Beach City Public Schools is Making a Difference! • During the 2008-2009 school year, the school division diverted 1,309 tons from the waste stream. This is equivalent to saving: • 22,049 trees. • 441,180 gallons of oil. • 3,891 cubic yards of landfill space. • 5,188,000 kilowatts of energy (enough to power 647 homes for one year). • 9,058,000 gallons of water http://www.vbschools.com/
