Integers

Integers. What are integers? All positive and negative numbers including zero. NO FRACTIONS! NO DECIMALS! For example…-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3…. There are different sets (or groups) of integers. 1) Set Z = all negative and positive numbers INCLUDING zero.

  1. Integers What are integers? All positive and negative numbers including zero. NO FRACTIONS! NO DECIMALS! For example…-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3…

  2. There are different sets (or groups) of integers. 1) Set Z = all negative and positive numbers INCLUDING zero. Z = {…-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3…} 2) Set Z* = non-zero integers which contains all negative and positive numbers EXCLUDING zero. Z* = {…-3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3…}

  3. 3) Set Z- = all negative numbers only INCLUDING zero. Z- = {...-4, -3, -2, -1, 0} 4) Set Z+ = all positive numbers only INCLUDING zero. Z+ = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4…}

  4. Graphing: a quick review Cartesian Plane: consists of two directed lines that perpendicularly intersect their respective zero points. abscissa ordinate
