There are lots of really powerful examples around of things we can do to improve quality while improving productivity, and of how we can use innovation to drive and embed change.” Sir David Nicholson, NHS Chief Executive

Other evidence in the QIPP collection • Cochrane topics: • NICE assessment of implications for practice from Cochrane systematic reviews • Identified with the potential to inform local initiatives • Same criteria for assessment as case studies • NICE do not do recommendations • Taken from NICE guidance published since 2007 • Updated as new guidance is published • NICE referral advice • Primary to secondary care referral advice taken from NICE guidance • NICE cost impact reports • Identification of potential savings through implementing the evidence

Four reasons to get involved • We must not lose our focus on quality because of the economic challenges we face • Addressing inefficiencies to benefit patient care is all our responsibility • Trusts will become known as local, regional and national beacons of best practice • Don’t re-invent the wheel. Introduce better ways of doing things now - today
