  1. JSC “Progress MRI”ACTIVITY AREAS , EXPERIENCE and SUGGESTIONS

  2. JSC Progress Microelectronic Research Institute is • Leading design centre of the Russian Federation on the development of specialized microelectronic element components; • Participant and prime contractor in a number of government programmes, the cross-industry design centre of VLSI System on a Chip (SoC) and System in Package (SiP); • ASIC developer for telecommunication, control and navigation systems, etc.; • Developer and manufacturer of microelectronic equipment; • Developer and manufacturer of GLONASS/GPS navigation receivers; • Developer and manufacturer of unified microelectronic modules.

  3. Research and Development -Satellite communication ( INTELSAT, EUTELSAT,INMARSAT,ORBCOMM) -  Spread spectrum signal processing -  Cellular communication (CDMA-one, WCDMA, WLAN: 802.11, 802.16) -  ATM switch equipment -   Radar systems -   Satellite navigation (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO) - Digital TV -   CPU core development -   RF ASIC development -   Sets of standardized modules

  4. CAD Centre CAD Engineering Centre (CAD SEC) provides a full life cycle of the development of microelectronic equipment and element components through automated hardware and software. CAD tools are used in the creation of advanced types of equipment as well as for the development of very-large-scale integration circuits (or specialised integrated circuits ASIC), in particular, System on a Chip (SoC), the complexity of which reaches several million gates. CAD SEC makes it possible to design integrated circuits with technological standards of up to 0.04 microns.

  5. Technology Partners Our main technology partners in ASIC production, manufacture and supply are leading microelectronic companies of Russia, the CIS, as well as many foreign factories and design centres specializing in fulfilling orders on the maintenance of ASIC design and production. Among them are: • JSC NIIME & MICRON, Zelenograd, Russia • JSC ANGSTREM, Zelenograd Russia • INTEGRAL, Minsk, Belarus • X-FAB, Erfurt, Germany • IHP, Frankfurt, Germany • TSMC, Taiwan • UMC, Taiwan • Silterra, Malaysia • PGS, Taiwan • Faraday, Taiwan • Key ASIC, Inc., Malaysia • And other.

  6. The Institute develops the whole design cycle: • from system-level to layout. Our expertise allows us to join the customer’s project at any stage of the design route. • As for contract design, the design centre accepts orders in the following principal areas: • SoCdevelopment; • Analogue microcircuit development; • Analogue and digital IP block design, including embedded ADC, DAC, PLL, microprocessor cores, hardware calculators and various interfaces; • Standard cell, memory and PDK library design; • Back-end design; • Development of IP block prototype on PLDs; • Elementcomponent upgrade for production equipment.

  7. ASIC • Most of the developed ASIC and IP are highly specialized integrated circuits that have been developed for customers’ specific technical tasks or within the framework of government programmes for specific equipment and are supplied in accordance with contract obligations to Customers only. • RF microwave circuits & IPs by SiGe technology: • modulators and demodulators, • RF receiver paths, • L & C-band attenuators, phase shifters, frequency synthesizers, • balanced mixers, low noise amplifiers • Digital ASICs & IPs: • SoC for Fibre Channel, • SoCfor satellite navigation, • Convolution coders and decoders, • Special ASICs for digital radars

  8. The microelectronic equipment • Development of microelectronic devices is another field of activity of the Institute. • In the development of microelectronic equipment we necessarily use ASIC chips developed at the Institute, including ASIC SoC and SIP. • We also use proprietary algorithms and software and hardware solutions to minimize the signal processing time and provide the best mass-dimensional and energy parameters. • Such an approach makes our devices competitive in the following areas: • Radiolocation • Satellite navigation • Telecommunications • Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA), etc.

  9. Here are some of our projects.

  10. Generations of GLONASS/GPS receivers from 2000 to 2014

  11. Unified navigation and communications module • Fields of application: security functions, vehicle monitoring, automatic emergency call to rescue services in case of accident, automatic payment for toll roads, recording information from various sensors installed in the vehicle. • The Platform, a uniform small receive-transmit navigation and communications module, ensures compliance with the mandatory technical requirements to the ERA - GLONASS terminals.

  12. This microchip is designed to compress FM and chirp signals. The main principle is the convolution of the input and reference signals with the capacity of up to 14 input signals. Previously radars used a signal compression unit based on the 4x4 matrix of 1846ПФ1T chips (see photo below). Next to it is the 1909ФП1F chip, fully replacing the compression unit of 1846ПФ1T chips and superior to this unit: • in radar signal compression ratio: 32 times; • in performance at comparable power consumption: 288 times.

  13. Set of unified modules for critical power management systems The set of unified modules for critical power management systems is designed for guaranteed power supply systems of aircraft engines, electric motors for oil, gas, and chemical product pumping and other systems of critical use. The set consists of: • DC-DC conversion unified module; • Unified module of power supply control and management. DC-DC conversion unified module Unified module of power supply control and management
