  1. Welcome to the Seventh Grade Ware Junior Senior High School Monday, June 12, 2018

  2. School Day • School starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:25 p.m. • Students report to the cafeteria when they arrive at school through the junior high doors. • From there, students report to their homeroom for daily attendance and announcements.

  3. School Day • Students will have four core classes plus specials. • All seventh grade students have lunch at the same time.

  4. Core Classes • English, History, Math, and Science • Currently each core class is approximately 70 minutes in length, but this may change.

  5. Specials • Seventh grade students will take four different specials classes throughout the year. • Each class is about 52 minutes in length. • These classes include: Computers, Health, Musicand Physical Education.

  6. Class Rotations • Homeroom, lunch, and specials are always held at the same time. • English, History, Math and Science rotate daily. • Ex: Today you have your core classes in this order: History, Math, Science and English. • Tomorrow, you will have classes in this order: Math, Science, English and History.

AttendanceIt is the Law! • All children between the ages of 6-16 years of age must attend school (M.G.L. c. 76, sec. 1). • Parents/guardians must notify the school of their child’s absence in a manner prescribed by school policy (M.G.L. c.76, sec, 1A). • It is the parent’s/guardian’s duty to ensure that their child attends school. If a child misses 7 full days or 14 half days in any 6 month period, parents/guardians may be taken to court(M.G.L. c.76, sec. 19).

  10. Pathfinder • If you plan on applying to Pathfinder… • They look at your 7th and 8th grade: • Attendance • Discipline • Grades • The better your attendance, discipline, and grades are, the better your chances of being accepted!

Tips from Former 7th graders • If you chew gum…you WILL be caught! • Eating in class is prohibited! • No recess  • Longer lunch  • There are no homework text messages to parents. • Should you fall asleep in class, be prepared to be woken up…zzzzzz • Quiet hallways • Do not speak out of turn; instead, raise your hand  • Expect to have more bookwork
