  2. WALT: Understand and identify the subject areas within Design and Technology. WILF: an understanding of the importance of design technology.

  3. ...The importance of D&T... Design and technology will teach you how to become creative problem solvers, as individuals and as members of a team. You will look at needs, wants and opportunities and respond to them by developing a range of ideas and making products and systems. You will combine practical skills with an understanding of aesthetics, social and environmental issues, function and industrial practices. From theses skills you will learn to reflect on and evaluate present and past design and technology, its uses and effects. Through design and technology, all pupils can become discriminating and informed users of products, and become innovators

  4. The subjects... At Montgomery you will experience a variety of different subjects on a 9 week cycle... The subjects: Graphics Food technology Textiles Resistant Materials Electronics Engineering

  6. WALT: Be able to understand and respond to a design brief. WILF: A clear understanding of the design brief and what factors need to be considered.

  7. You need to design and make an item of headwear which will scare me! • what do we need to consider? • Function • Materials • Colour • Size • shape

  8. Please put your name and form on the booklet... On page two analyse the design brief think about what we have discussed, what do we need to focus on?

  9. On the next page you have been given a mood board... • What is a mood board? • Homework: Gather a range (10) of ‘Scary’ images that can be used for a mood board during lesson 2
