Productivity: Collaboration and Global Connections Synchronous • Telephone  :>) • Long distance IP telephone (Skype   http://www.skype.com) • Headset w/ microphone is best.  PC/Web Camera optional • Also NetMeeting • Chat/IM, such as Gchat, AOL or MSN, Moodle Chat • Polycom Internet conferencing system small to larger groups (contact Gordon)  http://projects.twice.cc/ Asynchronous     email, discussion threads, Yahoo or Google groups or listservs Where do you learn about these groups?

Productivity: Collaboration Project Work • Think outside your team, think outside your school, think outside the district, ... •     Google Doc  (http://docs.google.com) • Word Processor, spreadsheet, presentation software • Collaborative online place to work privately or jointly • Simultaneous edting, small group (3-7) • Spit and polish, need to be on the web •  Requisite:  Account in Gmail needed. • For students:  Could create a generic accounts to share for the project  (with viewable history)

  4. Learning:  Capture and Share or self directed Screen Capture w/ or w/o voice over:     Camstudio  (Ms. Donald or Mr. Bittick)     JING (http://www.jingproject.com/)     Students can do this and share the video w/ others to learn process. Self directed:     Atomic Learning

Closed     Moodle   More resources and tools.  Closed or open     Sharepoint  Could have public space     Private web pages or private wiki

Communication Tools:         Blogs    Free  http://www.edublogs.org http://pbwiki.com/academic.wiki          Blogs are also used as personal journals, but most often shared.         How could you use a blog in your class as a communication tool? http://pc40s.blogspot.com/  Web space/site:  Some are free, but have a lot of advertisements.  Others are low cost.  Wikispaces, NING, and some blogs have advertisement free spaces              for educators.  Custom Search engine:  Custom SearchNew!      http://www.google.com/cse Create a customized search experience for your community

  8. School related spaces Please keep your principal and media specialist apprised of your space and intent and whether students will be creating content.

Connecting globally Learn from others.     Read your professional journals to see if different groups have dynamic websites and/or collaborative websites.     Look for listserv's in your content area     Project based connection sites, such as www.ePals.com or http://www.globalschoolnet.orgh http://www.takingitglobal.org/tiged/  http://projects.twice.cc/  (IP conferencing synchronous) What might be a learning goal for your class to connect kids globally in real issues?
