  8. Emerald Ash Borer Agrilusplanipennis

  9. Common Name: Emerald Ash Borer Scientific Name: Agrilusplanipennis Classification: Animalia, Arthropoda, Insecta

  10. It was discovered in the summer of 2002 And it was brought over from Asia It is from Eastern Russia Northern China Japan Korea Found in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota

  11. This insect does not really have DIRECT effects on people. But, it can effect people because it feasts on trees.

  12. The effect on the ecosystem is that it eats trees! The trees have a HUGE impact on the ecosystem. So, by the trees dying, the following things happen: Animals lose their homes Humans lose a little bit of oxygen The job of decomposers is easier

  13. Adults can fly from ½ miles from home tree. Also have a long life span All the trees it needs to survive with.

  14. The issues of the future are: Billions of dollars will be spent on future treatments if no action is taken NOW. It can be prevented without the use of toxins, if and only if people are careful about the firewood they move. The only tradeoff there is of this is that it is a very irritating hastle

  15. Here is a map of some of the places the Emerald Ash Borer has taken over  It isn’t a GREAT map, but I guess it will do… 

  16. These are some signs that the beetle has made it to your yard. If you see anything like this, you OBVIOUSLY have Emerald Ash Beetles in your yard.
