  1. CYO Volleyball Scorekeeping tutorial This is a tutorial for scorekeepers in volleyball games that use rally scoring. (6th through 8th grade in CYO volleyball) This tutorial is intended to be viewed in “Slide Show” mode (View->Slide Show or press F5)

  2. St. Anthony 1 11:00 1/1/11 St. Anthony Other Team Start with a black or blue pen and enter in: SiteCourt # (most likely just “1”)Match # (put in time scheduled to start)Date“X” the SET #. Place an “X” for the team that wins the “First Serve” coin toss. Say St. Anthony won the coin toss and elected to serve first. The Other Team elected to take the side on the right. Enter the team names in the Team section.

  5. DURING THE GAME > At the moment of contact for serve, make a circle in the first line for the first server in the scoring column > If the server scores a point – put the point number in the circle and circle the corresponding point in the running score column > If the serve results in a point for the receiving team, put an “R” in the circle, then move to the other side of the score sheet and make a square on the first line of the next server in the scoring section – put the point number for that team in square and square the corresponding number in running score column for that team > Make a circle, at the moment of contact for serve next to the square of the team that serves. The outcome of that play goes in that circle > Continue throughout the set with circles and squares, depending on whether the point is scored while serving (circle) or receiving (square)

  6. SUBSTITUTIONS > Whenever a substitution occurs the action must be recorded > If the serving team is substituting, put an “S” where the next serve circle would go and then the number of the player going in over the number of the player coming out (like a fraction). i.e. serving team #7 in for #17 S7/17 >If the receiving team substituting, put an “Sx“ on the line of the current server where the next circle would go and then the number of the player going in over the number of the player coming out (like a fraction). i.e. serving team #6 in for #14 would look like Sx 6/14 > Circle the number of the substitution in the box marked SUBSTITUTIONS– each team is allowed 18 substitutions per game, unlimited individual and the Libero does not count as a substitution. SANCTIONS > All sanctions must be written in the comments section of the score sheet and will include the player number or coach’s name, score at the time of the sanction, outcome of the sanction and a BRIEF description if the situation. END OF GAME > Fill out Winning Team and Losing Team FINAL SCORE > Scorekeeper initial > Official signs the score sheet at the end of the match P 3 3 R

  7. When the teams are lined up and the referee is checking that they are in their correct order, the scorekeeper should be doing the same by comparing their lineup with the scoresheet. St. Anthony loses the point. Place an “R” in the circle, square point 1 for the Other Team, draw square on the line for #3 on the other team and put a 1 inside it. At the time the first player (#14) for St. Anthony serves, place a circle on the line next to that player. St. Anthony scores their first point. Enter a 1 in the circle and circle the 1 in the score column. St. Anthony wins the point. Place a 2 inside the circle and circle the 2 in the scoring column. #14 serves again.   8. St. Anthony wins the point. Write an R in the circle, put a square around point 3 for St. Anthony on the scoring column, write a square on #8’s line for St. Anthony and write a 3 in it. #3 on the Other Team serves.   9. The Other Team wins the point. Write an R in the circle, write a square for the 2nd point for the Other Team in the scoring column, write a square on #16’s line and enter a 2 in it. St. Anthony wins the point. Write a 4 in the circle and circle the 4 for St. Anthony in the scoring column. #8 for St. Anthony serves. Write a circle.   10. St. Anthony wins the point. Write an R in the circle, write a square around the 5th point for St. Anthony in the scoring column, write a square for #25’s line and write a 5 in it. #16 serves again. Write a circle. The Other Team scores a point. Write a 3 in the circle and circle the 3 in the scoring column. #16 for the Other Team serves. Write a circle.   11. St. Anthony loses the point. Place an R in the circle, square point #4 for the Other Team, place a square on #29’s line for the Other Team and enter a 4 in it. The Other Team scores a point. Enter 5 in the circle and circle point 5 for the Other Team in the scoring column. #25 serves. Place a circle on their line. #29 serves. Draw a circle.   12. St. Anthony subs in #6 for #14. On the line for #11, write “S 6/14”, write a slash through 14 and write a 6 and circle the 1 down in the substitutions area. St. Anthony wins the point. Enter an R in the circle, square point 6 for St. Anthony in the scoring column, draw a square on the line for St. Anthony’s #11 and enter in a 6 in it. #29 serves again. Draw a circle.   13. At this point, the Other Team calls a timeout. Record the score in the Time Outs box with the Other Team’s score listed first St. Anthony wins the point. Write a 7 in the circle and circle 7 in the scoring column. Then write another circle when #11 serves again. #11 serves for St. Anthony. Write a circle on their line.   14. The Other Team wins the point. Write an R in the circle, write a square around point 6 for the Other Team , write a square for #7 of the Other Team and write a 6 in it. St. Anthony wins the point so write an 11 in the circle and circle point 11 in the scoring column. Then write another circle when #11 serves again. #11 for St. Anthony serves so write a circle. The pen color now needs to be switched to red to square point 15 for St. Anthony and to write 15 in a square for player #6’s line. #32 serves, scores a point and then serves again.   20. St. Anthony wins a point then the Other Team substitutes #1 for #32. Use Sx since the receiving team is substituting.
