Cutting-edge education and comprehensive training is the centerpiece of Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC)’s drive to enhance Hong Kong’s green building industry and community awareness. “My Green Space” Green Building Competition for Schools is established by HKGBC since 2011. The Competition is open to all local primary and secondary school students. The overarching aim of the Competition is to facilitate the sustainable development of Hong Kong through the promotion of green buildings. The Competition aims to: a) promote green building concepts among the school community; b) nurture critical and creative thinking by providing training to the school community and encouraging students to express their creative ideas of green building concepts; c) transfer knowledge on green building and the environment to school community. Students are invited to submit entries based on the Competition theme - “My Green Space” to present ideas on how green building concepts can be applied in real life cases such as Green Home, Green School and Green Community, as well as ideas on how to develop Green Living for a Better World.

  5. The judging criteria include Application of green building concepts (40%), Originality and Creativity (30%) and Effectiveness of Presentation (30%). Entrants are highly encouraged to minimize the cost of the Competition Entry and to use recycling materials in order to put the sustainability concepts in practice. Our judging panel comprises experts from different sectors including the building sector, school community, the social sector and relevant Government Bureau/Department.

  7. Text Description Text description of the submission is not mandatory. It can be written in Chinese or English. For Primary School Divisions, entrants can submit their entries with a description of no greater than 100 words. For Secondary School Divisions, entrants (except those who submit proposals) can submit their entries with a description of no greater than 250 words. For Senior Secondary Division, entrants who submit proposal on green building initiatives are required to submit their entries in word document in no more than 10 A-4 pages (one-sided, font size 12 in 新細明體 (Chinese) or in Times New Roman (English), double-line spacing). Regarding the entries All entries must be original. All entries must not have been published. All entries must not have been submitted to or otherwise produced in connection with other competitions. All entries must not be commissioned works and have not otherwise been sold to any developers, publishers or other third parties. Entry Format To encourage creativity, we accept a wide range of formats of entries, including 2D or 3D formats or multimedia entries. Primary School Divisions (P.1 to P.6): Entrants are required to submit entries in 2D format which includes artworks, cards, paintings, photos and comics, etc. A thickness of no greater than 1cm for 2D artwork can be accepted considering nature of different art materials. Secondary School Divisions (S.1 - S.6): Entrants are required to submit entries in 2D format (i.e. artworks, cards, paintings, photos and comics, etc.) or 3D format (models, sculptures, etc.) or multimedia format. For Senior Secondary Division (S.4 - S.6), apart from the aforesaid formats, entrants are allowed to submit entries in written proposals on green building initiatives. Formats of Entries Points to note Photos The photo should be of 8R size Apart from handing in a hard copy of the photo, an electronic version of the photo at a size less than 5 MB should be submitted to HKGBC via email (greenschool@hkgbc.org.hk) Proposal Apart from handing in a hard copy of the proposal, an electronic version of the proposal at a size less than 5 MB should be submitted to HKGBC via email (greenschool@hkgbc.org.hk) Entries in 2D format other than photos Submission of entry in hard copy 2D artwork should be of no greater than a thickness of 1cm 3D Submission of entry in hard copy Entries must be placed in a box of A3 size (440 mm X 330 mm X 290 mm) or A4 size (320 mm X 220 mm X280 mm) Multimedia Submission of entry in hard copy Entries are to be saved to a CD-R/DVD
