  1. Geothermal Lease Sale Known Geothermal Resource Area (KGRA) Identified available acreage within KGRAs for lease sale Public requests for the sale were also received. Last competitive sale, 1988

  2. Lease Sale Process • Configured lands into parcels and prepared a preliminary list of lands for the sale including leases stipulations. Twenty one (21) parcels were developed.

  3. Lease Sale Process • Sent parcels to BLM Field Offices and U.S. Forest Service for environmental review and NEPA compliance record. • Prepared final sale list after environmental review. Three (3) Forest Service parcels were removed for further NEPA compliance work. Eighteen (18) parcels containing 33,877. acres remained for sale.

  4. Lease Sale Process • Final Sale list including stipulations was posted October 24, 2003. • Of the eighteen (18) parcels, nine (9) were in the Roosevelt Hot Springs KGRA, five (5) were in the Cove Fort - Sulphurdale KGRA, three (3) were in the Crater Springs KGRA, and one (1) was in the Thermo Hot Springs KGRA.

  5. Lease Sale Process • A protest was received on the inclusion of the three parcels in the Crater Springs KGRA. • The Competitive sale (sealed bid) was held December 9, 2003.

  6. Results of Lease Sale • Four of the eighteen available parcels received bids. One parcel was located in the Cove Fort – Sulphurdale KGRA and the remaining three parcels were within the Roosevelt Hot Springs KGRA. • Total acreage leased was 6585 acres of the 33,877 acres available.
