  2. Scoring on the 4 Point Rubric 4 = Homerun! 3 = You’re swinging! 2 = You’re still in the dugout! 1 = You haven’t found the ball park yet!

AP Style Analysis Descriptors 8-9 = Advanced word choice and syntax; precisely nailed the tone and purpose; writing is succinct and fluid 7 = The thinking is there; tone is precise; writing may be a little clunky 6 = Missing the complexity of the piece; tone is not precise; clunky writing 5 = Too simplistic; thesis may be partially incorrect; writing is clunky 4 -1 = Missed the point; definite problems with writing

Writing Descriptors 4 = Advanced word choice and sentence constructions; key evidence is smoothly integrated; thought-provoking and compelling ideas/inferences; thorough and clear explanations 3 = Text evidence may be awkwardly plopped in or less compelling; inferences/ideas are correct, but not thought-provoking; explanations are not as thorough as a 4 2 = Overly simplistic; text evidence is weak; ideas are not fully explained or clear; writing is clunky 1 = Ideas are inaccurate or lack support; little to no text evidence is used; writing lacks clarity, focus, and skill
