Life to Eagle in 12 Steps • Meet Scout Requirements • Plan a Leadership Service Project • Complete Project and Workbook • Submit Application and References • Conduct Unit Review • Council Verification • Eagle Chair Schedules BOR • Conduct Board of Review • Approved Application to Council • Council Approval • Court of Honor

Project suggestions: Build something, provide a service for someone or an organization, correct a problem for an approved organization. Do something for your church, Help solve a problem at a school, Do something for the environment, Make an impact on your community… Getting Started – Choose Your Project Now get busy !! (but have FUN!)

  4. Project Planning • Use the Pawnee Dist. Project Packet • Use Service Project Workbook • If you wish – just keep it organized! • Step 1: Pick a Project • Step 2: Write Project Description • Briefly describe the project • Explain who will benefit (name the organization) • Get Approval BEFORE Starting • Benefiting Organization • Unit Leader and Committee • District Committee Chair

  5. Remember the Purpose Plan, Develop, and Give Leadership to Others Scout Planned. Scout Led. Scout Done

Initial Project Write-up • Project Description • Planning Details • Present Condition with Photos • Plans/Drawings/Design • Materials, Tools, Supplies, and Budget (Project Source of Funding) • Schedule and Detailed Instructions (Plan of Work) • Financial and Safety Plan • Adult Supervision, Work Site, and Transportation

  7. Initial Project Write-up • Scout: • When you complete the Initial Project Write-Up… Call Jeff Stevenson and ask for an appointment…

  8. Project Completion / Final Write-up • Keep Detailed Notes • Take Photos (a picture is worth a thousand words) • Evaluate/Note Changes in Plan • Save all Receipts • Prepare Final Write-up • Describe what happened • Update lists & work schedule (hours worked, materials, changes, photos) • Summarize leadership actions • Assemble Notebook (Appearance) • Obtain Completed Project Approvals (Organization and Scoutmaster)

  9. Application Submittal • Complete Eagle Rank Application • Prepare statement of ambitions and life purpose and list of positions held in other organizations (#6 on back) • Complete Scoutmaster Conference • Obtain Committee Chair Signature • Submit Application and Final Write-up to Council

  10. Board of Review • Approved Application Sent to District Eagle Board Chairman • BOR is Scheduled • Minimum of three members • Unit representative is present • Proper Uniform, Oath, and Law • Not an Examination of Scouting Skills • Discussion of Requirements and Experience • Encourage Future Scouting Goals • Determination of Attitude and Acceptance of Scouting Ideals • Unanimous Approval Required
