    2. What is a Cluster ? Cluster examples Why a cluster now ? Transylvania Cluster an IT cluster

    3. What is a cluster ? "Industry cluster" is an economic development concept championed by Dr. Michael Porter, a worldwide respected expert in global economic strategies from the Harvard Business School. A concentration of companies and industries in a geographic region that are interconnected by the markets they serve and the products they produce, as well as their suppliers, trade associations and educational institutions

    4. What is a cluster ? in it's simplest form may be informal networking some form of formal structure often helps ensure the combined efforts of the group are harnessed more effectively to achieve common goals Clustering is not confined to companies with complementary skills or product ranges Competing companies can also work together. There is always common ground beyond traditional rivalries where it makes economic sense to co-operate.

    5. Cluster Goals Greater presence in the market-place - Collaborating as a cluster allows individual companies to wear the mantle of much larger organizations and be part of a more impressive marketing image. Cost-effective sharing and pooling of resources Sharing appropriate business development and running costs

    6. Cluster Goals Sharing market intelligence and ideas - A hallmark of clusters is the sharing of market intelligence, ideas, know-who and know-how. Though it may take time to build up trust, once this kind of sharing takes root it can become an invaluable asset. Guidance from more experienced companies - Receiving mentoring assistance from more experienced member companies is another facet of clustering that can improve company profitability. This can keep companies up-to-date with the latest management and production techniques and help them avoid costly pitfalls or wandering down blind commercial alleys.

    12. Why an IT cluster in Romania ? Romania is in anew stage from the outsourcing point of view Romania is not a very cheap source anymore, other countries are much cheaper (Ukraine, Bielorussia, Bosnia, etc.) Romania built a brand of reliable, creative and efficient outsourcing partner Major acquisitions (GECAD, etc.) , the successes on the international markets of Romanian Companies ( SOFWIN - BitDefender) had a great PR effect for the Romanian IT industry The companies in EU and USA started to trust more and more the Romanian Companies but unfortunately in outsourcing large projects the SIZE of the Romanian Companies matters. In USA there are two different trends related to outsourcing: a movement against outsourcing , and another trend of the VCs in Silicon Valley to force the startups to use outsourcing specially in the first stages of the ventures The cluster represents a group of small and medium sized companies as a large firm The clusters have a great chance to become European Companies after 2007
